What is PMP doing on climate change?
PMP has been continually focusing on supporting new projects which provide energy efficiencies and therefore deliver lower carbon emissions. PMP has been working with its suppliers to provide differing levels of carbon efficient products which will suit our customers’ requirements. PMP has been meeting its formal reporting requirements on emissions since 2000. PMP is preparing itself to manage its carbon emissions position by entering the carbon credit markets or registering projects to take advantage of abatement schemes.
How much carbon emissions does PMP produce?
147,000 tonnes of CO2 under Scope 1 and 2 under recently announced government guidelines.
What is the single biggest achievement on climate change recently?
The implementation of new energy efficient Man Roland presses.
What has PMP been doing on paper recycling?
PMP recycles close to 100% of its production waste through delivery of paper bale waste to a recycling specialist and through delivery of cardboard, strapping, plastic and office paper waste to other recycling specialists. These specialists recycle close to 100% of PMP’s waste.
Will PMP have an exposure to the carbon emissions of its paper suppliers?
Under recent guidelines, this exposure is borne by the suppliers. However, PMP expects customers will demand an end-to-end choice of carbon emission efficient products so PMP is working with suppliers in order for PMP to offer a range of products with different resulting carbon emissions.
What changes do you expect from climate change initiatives?
PMP is preparing itself to provide customers with the level of carbon emissions on each product it produces (which is already happening in the UK).
Will climate change force publishers to adopt a greater element of soft copy advertising rather than hard copy?
Hard copy or printed material will continue to have its place in the advertising space. We expect our publishers’ customers will be prepared to pay a higher price for a green product. It should be recognised that printing costs still represent a minor cost input to a finished product.
